2021 Occoquan Regional Championships
Today the Falls Church Jaguar Cross Country team had an amazing day.Sophomore Haley Heironimus qualified for the VHSL State 6A Cross Country Championships next week at Great Meadow. She ran the second fastest time in FC girls XC history after running the fastest time last week at Districts. She is currently ranked top 10 in 6A. Freshman Isabella Phillips was also close to making the state finals by placing in the top ten for individual runners.The top 5 make states. Junior Anna Gray and Sophomore Evelyn Keefer also ran their personal records for the girls. The FC boys team also had an amazing day with all 7 runners running personal records. Full Results below.

The Falls Church Cross Country team had 4 All-District Runners at the 2021 National District Championships. Freshman Haley Heironimus took 2nd with a school record 18:17 and Freshman Isabella Phillips took 4th with a top 10 all time FC girl time. In the boys race Sophomore Sam Ross took 9th in a PR 17:24 and Sophomore Aymane Askari took 11th in a PR 17:26. Both the boys and girls teams took 3rd.

October 16, 2021 MileStat Invitational
The Falls Church Cross Country Team traveled to Mechanicsville, Virginia for the highly anticipated Milestat Invitational. With over 100 teams, a fast course and great competition it did not disappoint. The FC boys stole the show at this meet.
The JV Boys WON the JV race! Junior Leo Miracle led the way with his first HS win with a PR 18:45. He was smiling all the way! He was followed by Freshman Trey Gagermeir (3rd-PR-19:18), Junior Robbie Potter (5th-19:28), and Junior Liam Glavin (11th-20:17). All four were medalist. The 5th scoring runner was Sophomore Graham Ingalls with a PR 20:54 in 23rd place.
The FC Varsity Boys also came home with a trophy taking 3rd place in the Varsity Race. The Varsity boys were led this week by Junior Peter Kratz (PR-18:12-28th). He was followed by Sophomore Aymane Sakari (PR, 18:18-33rd), Sophomore Sam Ross (18:44, 50th), Senior Brayan Cruz Cruz (18:56), Senior Will Salisbury (18:59), Junior Jamie Perez (19:16), and Senior Finn Kelleher in 19:18.
In the Elite Girls race Sophomore Haley Heironimus medaled with a time of 19:01. She placed 20th in a highly competitive girls race with girls from many surrounding states. This was just 2 seconds off her best and the second fastest girls time in FC girls XC history. In the Varsity Girls race Freshman Isabella Phillips again medaled with a 10th place finish in 20:50. Isabella is in the top 5 girls in FC XC history with her PR time of 20:13. Running 2nd for the girls in the Varsity race was Junior Damierah Walker in 23:16, followed by Junior Anna Gray (23:33), Junior Harper Tran (24:17), Sophomore Evelyn Keefer (24:50), Sophomore Eden Burton (29:20), and Freshman Cici Steinhauer (29:50.)

Oct. 9, 2021 Glory Days Invitational Results
The Falls Church girls and boys team had an outstanding weekend at the Glory Days Invitational at Bull Run Regional Park. 30 of the top teams in Virginia and out of state competed in a very muddy course where many of our runners finished without shoes! Falls Church was led by Sophomore Haley Heironimus placing 6th in 19:29 out of 114 runners in the race. Freshman Isabella Phillips was 2nd on the team in 21:15. She was followed by Junior Damierah Walker in a season PR of 23:42, Junior Anna Gray(23:48), Junior Harper Tran(24:04), Sophomore Evelyn Keefer (24:07) and Sophomore Eden Burton 27:49.
The FC Varsity boys were led this week by Senior Julian Scott in 18:14. He was followed by Junior Peter Kratz PR (18:20), Sophomore Aymane Askari (18:37), Senior Finn Kelleher (19:04) Junior Jamie Perez (19:04), and Senior Jack Kearney (20:59). Oct. 2, 2021 Octoberfest Invitational Results
The Falls Church girls and boys team had an outstanding weekend in the Plains, Virginia at the Oktoberfest Invitational. 50 of the top teams in Virginia and out of state competed. Falls Church was led by Sophomore Haley Heironimus placing 10th in 18:58 out of 352 runners in the race. This was a NEW SCHOOL 5K RECORD and her first time under 19 minutes. Freshman Isabella Phillips running in the Freshman/Sophomore race WON with a PR time of 20:12. Isabella won out of 205 of the best Freshman/Sophomores in the State. In the Varsity Race Senior Madison Wood ran a PR(22:48), Junior Anna Gray PR(23:12), Sophomore Evelyn Keefer PR (23:42), and Junior Harper Tran PR(23:52). Sophomore Eden Burton was also a PR 27:00 and Freshman Amy Fernandez ran a PR of 29:03. She was followed by Junior Abbey Breehey in 30:29.
The FC Varsity boys were led again this week by Sophomore Sam Ross with a PR of 17:57. Homecoming 2021 Cross Country Meet

Both the girls XC and Boys XC team won their homecoming meets on a rainy, windy, muddy day. Seniors Ayelen Soto-Arze, Madison Wood, Albert Caceres-Rosales, Brayan Cruz Cruz, Jack Kearney, Finn Kelleher, Will Salisbury, and Julian Scott were all honored on Senior Day at the meet. All will be sorely missed next year! We love you all!
The girls cross country also won over Justice, Mount Vernon, and Lewis with a score of 18 points. The girls were led by Sophomore Haley Heironimus with a NEW COURSE RECORD of 19:33 in first place. In 2nd place was Freshman Isabella Phillips with a time of 20:57. She was followed by Senior Madison Wood (23:36-4th), Junior Anna Gray (23:36-5th), Junior Harper Tran (6th-24:25), and Sophomore Evelyn Keefer (7th-24:25). Sophomore Eden Burton was also 11th in 27:11.

9-14-2021 Cross Country Meet Summary
The Falls Church Boys and Girls both won their cross country meets today on a hot and humid day.
The boys won with a perfect score of 15 points taking first through 5th places. Hayfield was 2nd with 57 pts, Annandale 3rd with 74 pts, and Edison 4th with 115 pts. The boys were led by sophomore Sam Ross in 20:05 (1st). Sam took the lead early and never looked back. Junior Peter Kratz followed in (20:21-2nd), Amayne Askari (20:35-3rd), Will Salisbury (20:43-4th), and Brayan Cruz Cruz in (20:47-5th.)
Sophomore Haley Heironimus led the girls XC team again this week in 1st place with a time of 21:06. She was followed by Freshman Isabella Phillips in 2nd place in 23:12.The girls had a battle with Hayfield and were behind at the 2 mile until Senior Captain Madison Wood (4th- 24:47), Junior Harper Tran (6th-25:27), and Junior Evelyn Keefer (8th-25:50) fought to pass a few more runners to make the win possible. The Jaguar girls won with 21points, Hayfield 2nd-37 pts, Annandale-3rd-69 pts, and Edison 4th with 110pts.

This week the team had split meets. The JV ran at Mason District Park and the Varsity at Oatlands Invitational.
The girls cross country team finished in 21st place in a meet with 89 teams! They outran many of their local rivals including George Marshall. The girls were led by Sophomore Haley Heironimus's top 25 finish in 20:05. She was followed by Freshman Isabella Phillips in 21:46. Senior Madison Wood (23:04), Junior Harper Tran (23:55), Evelyn Keefer (23:56) and Junior Anna Gray (25:20) round out the top 7.
The boys cross country team running without 3 of their 4 top runners in Senior Finn Kelleher, Junior Robbie Potter, and Senior Jack Kearney finished in 47th place out of 89 teams. The team was led by Sophomore Sam Ross in 18:41, followed by Junior Peter Kratz (19:17), Junior Jamie Perez (19:39), Senior Will Salisbury (19:40), Junior Liam Glavin (20:19), and Junior Leo Miracle (20:30.)

On Wednesday, September 8th we will be hosting an All athletes meeting from 315-4pm in the cafeteria. All Fall athletes and coaches are expected to attend. We will be focusing on what it means to be a Falls Church athlete and good sportsmanship.

Monday August 23rd Practice starts at school 3:30-5:30pm. Meet at the stadium Monday- Friday.
- Be checked in at the stadium by 3:30pm (if your late we could already be off running and you will miss practice.)
- Use your phone to scan in with the QR code each day.
- Have a mask when we go into the school for weight room or buses.
- Have a minimum 32oz of water daily.
- Be ready for changing weather conditions. Have change of clothes, sweats, etc.

Pre-Season Conditioning:
Summer training begins at Roundtree Park @ 8am on Mondays starting on JULY 12TH, Wednesdays at Falls Church High School@8am July 14th, and Fridays at Eakin Park@8am July 16th.
Official practice begins Monday August 2nd,( Mon-Friday at 8 am-9:30-am). After school practice will begin August 23, 3:30-5:30pm.

Equipment Needed
You must purchase a school cross country uniform (cost approx $35) to be worn at all competitions. The uniform can be used in cross country, indoor and outdoor track. Order link below will be given at a later time. You need a singlet and green shorts.
Good running shoes, racing spikes, socks, shorts, t-shirts, black warm-up pants, 32 oz water bottle with name on it, cold weather gear-long sleeves,wind/rain resistant jacket,gloves,winter hat, and tights. A running watch is helpful. Dress for the weather!
