Dear Jaguar Cross-Country,

Below is the information on Regionals this Thursday. Please arrive by 10:00 A.M. and follow the instructions given by the meet director. Race times: Boys 11:15, Girls 12:15.

Only the top 7 athletes compete with 3 alternates:

Boys: Alek, Max, Julian, Peter, Will, David, and Sam. (Alt: Thomas, Jack, Finn)

Girls: Haley, Lauren, Rachel, Madison, Harper, Olivia, Damierah. (Alt: Audrey, Sylvan, Alex)

1. We asked that no tents be erected so to avoid athletes gathering under them, this will be in effect next week as well.
2. Parents to park in designated parking lots only. They were parking along the road past mini golf, narrowing the road to one lane which was causing issues for your traffic controller for those going in and out.
3. Athletes need to stay off the course during warmups
4. Spectators need to stay in the designated areas.

Regional Championship Time line for Thursday April 15^th, Please adhere to this to allow for course set up and transition to the Northern Region Event.

Attached is the compiled results from the district races to establish the 2 flights for the regional championship races. Attached is the virtual meet for the men’s and women’s races and below are the lane assignments.

South County and TC Williams were tied on points and using the tie breaker (6^thrunner position) the South County team will be in the First Flight and the TC Williams team will be in the second flight.

Falls Church VS Wakefield and Thomas Jefferson

Falls Church competed well against Wakefield and TJ on Tuesday. Senior Tishere Dockerey running his first cross country race at Falls Church won the JV race and had the fastest time of the day in all races of 20:06. Senior Thomas Vu in his first race coming back from injury was 2nd in the Varsity race in 20:11, followed closely by Junior Jack Kearney in 20:16. Senior Chris Schappi running his first cross country race was 6th in 20:35. 

A few other notable improvements:

Sophomore Liam Glavin-dropped 1:30 from time on the same course.

Sophomore Jamie Perez dropped two minutes on the same course.

Senior Robert Martin-dropped over a minute on the same course.

Sophomore Leo Miracle-dropped two minutes on the same course.

Sophomore Duncan Kelleher-dropped over two minutes from his first race.

Freshman Gabriel Keelor-dropped 36 seconds from a much faster/shorter Burke Lake Course.

Sophomore Audrey Schaal-dropped a minute from a much faster/shorter Burke Lake Course and finished this hilly/rocky course without twisting another ankle!

Good evening. Below are the results from today's cross country meet vs Edison at Burke Lake. Thank you to all the parent volunteers! 

A few highlights:

The Varsity girls win a close race with Edison! Congratsgirls! The JV boys won, and Sophomore Liam Glavin won his first HS cross Country race! Congrats Liam! Senior Aleksander Ryan continued his blazing senior campaign by place second and almost stealing the race at the end with a PB of 17:18. Freshman Haley Heironimus ran an amazing 2nd place time of 20:39 followed by her teammates Rachel Hirz and Lauren Gagermeier in 4th and 5th. Sophomore Harper Tran and Sophomore Damierah Walker ran out of their minds to help secure the win for the lady Jaguars! In the JV Boys race just on Liams heals were Sophomore Jamie Perez-2nd, Nathaniel Manarin-3rd, and 5th Robert Martin, and Freshman Kai Ferro in 7th. Great job Jaguars!

Order your uniform and shorts by February 24th. The online store closes on February 24th and items take a minimum of 3 weeks for delivery. Items will be delivered to the school and Coach Smith will pass them out. Uniform and shorts are required. Extra gear can also be ordered but is not required.

**NEW as of November 2020: there are 2 requirements before an athlete is eligible to tryout

1. Completed VHSL physical form.
   1. Completed physicals can be turned into you at workouts or dropped off at the Main Entrance (Door #1) Monday-Friday from 8am-3pm. Tell the adult that answers the door to put the physical form in Ms. Kim’s mailbox in the main office.
2. Parents will now need to register their child/children online thru the Sports Athletic Registration link. Do NOT use their cellphones or @fcpsschools.net email. This registration will only work on a laptop or computer and a personal email needs to be entered.  

• If you already have a physical on file then you are set.
• If you did track you need to log back into your account and make sure you have checked cross country. 
• If you are new then you need to do both the physical and registration.

Cross Country Practice Start Date

Practice begins Tuesday, February 16th ( Mon-Friday at 3:30pm-5:30PM) All students-athletes are expected to check in at the ticket booth by 3:30pm prepared for practice. Wear your mask, follow the

check-in procedures, have a 32 oz water bottle, and all equipment. We have no access to locker rooms so come dressed to run. All student-athletes must check-out with coaches before leaving for the day. Pick-up promptly at 5:30 as we have to leave campus immediately.

Practice days:
February: 16-19, 22-26
March: 1-5, 8-12, 15-19, 22-26
April: 6-9, 12-16, + additional days if qualification for States-19-21.

FCHS Activities is very excited to announce our new Head Cross Country Coach, Matthew Smith. We will be hosting a virtual meet the coach night on Thursday, July 2^nd 2020 at 6pm. You can access the meeting at the link below. I am also very happy to let everyone know that Coach Montieth will also be joining the staff as an assistant coach. I am very confident that with Coach Smith and Coach Montieth our cross country program will be very successful.
