What to Wear:

Seniors will be wearing their black FCHS Dance Team quarter zip and will change into their jazz costume prior to our performance.

Freshmen and Juniors- please come dressed and ready in your jazz costume.

What to Expect:

Senior Introductions will occur before the basketball game begins. 

The dancers will dance at halftime and be expected to remain with the team throughout the third quarter.

We hope to see everyone at Senior Night!

Gar-Field 02/06/16 Dance Invitational Parent Information Sheet

Cost to get into the competition: $6.00; Children 6 and under are free

Spectators may only enter through Door 10 (right next to Door 8)!  It is on the FOOTBALL FIELD side up the stairs. 

*If you need an elevator for wheelchair access, please let your coach know so that they can contact the Gar-Field coach (Heather Adams).

Teams/Dancers please enter through Door 4 only!  This door is on the other side of the school located near practice fields, baseball fields, and tennis courts.  This way you are closer to your dressing area.  

Coaches and participants ONLY will be allowed into the locker rooms.  Parents, if you need to give your athlete something, you will need to find a Gar-Field dance/cheer worker.

                *Darius- You will be able to get ready in the boys bathroom.   

Team dances will begin at 1:30.  We are scheduled to dance at 2:28PM for jazz and 5:32PM for hip-hop.  Awards are scheduled to start at 5:52PM. 

                *Please remember that times may fall behind or run ahead.

                *Falls Church dancers need to be at Gar-Field high school at 12:00PM. 

No outside food or drink will be allowed into the building (**When clarifying with the Gar-Field coaches-water bottles and small snacks that fit inside the dancer’s bags can be brought in**)

*Dancers- Please make sure all locker rooms/health rooms are left how they were (please clean up trash and put desks back). 

*Concessions will be going all morning and afternoon.

NO BALLOONS ALLOWED INSIDE THE BUILDING- Gar-Field has a staff member who is highly allergic.

The dancers will need to meet at Gar-Field High School (Address: 14000 Smoketown Rd, Woodbridge, VA 22192) AT 12:00 on Saturday 02/06.  This will give them time to change and get ready as a team before we begin walking through the dance. 

At practice today, there were three forms that were sent home with the dancers, that need to be returned on Wednesday 02/03.

1. Field Trip Forms for the Gar-Field Competition- There will not be a bus to transport the dancers to and from competition.  Each dancer must fill out and return the front of the field trip form.  Any dancer that is driving themselves or any parent that is driving a dancer other than their child to the competition, need to ALSO fill out the back of the field trip form.  *If you are only driving your dancer to the competition, please just fill out the front of the form.

2. Semester Grade Sheets- The dancers must have their teacher in each class sign their semester grade sheet.  This will be used to recheck athletic eligibility.  The teachers in each class will be averaging both the first and second quarter grades to receive a semester grade.

3. Senior Introduction Cards- This form is only for the six seniors on the team.  This is used for Senior Night, which is Friday February 12th.

The dancers are to meet in the gym lobby at 5:00 tomorrow (02/02) for the doubleheader basketball game.  They will be performing Hip-Hop during the Girls Varsity Game.  They will be wearing their hair half up, half down with a poof.  Costume items for hip-hop include: combat boots, Jaguars leggings, white tshirt, black motorcycle jacket.  Darius you will be wearing your black t-shirt, black pants and your combat boots.  They will then perform Jazz during the Boys Varsity Game.  They will be wearing their hair in a high ponytail with a poof.  Costume items for jazz include: black jazz shoes, black tights, pink shorts, black striped top.  Darius you will be wearing your black jazz shoes, black jazz pants, black dress shirt, and pink tie.

Dancers will be expected to remain with their teammates through the third quarter of the Boys Varsity Game.

Due to the weather, all activities and events have been canceled and/or postponed for this weekend (this includes both our basketball game tonight and competition tomorrow).  Competition WILL BE rescheduled for next Saturday January 30th.  If there are any time or schedule changes, we will let you know ASAP!

For any dancer (Jaci, Sydney, Alyssa, Daniela, Laia, Erika, Brena, and Ellen) that pre-ordered a Brooke Point Competition shirt- the money is due to the coaches by tomorrow (Thursday 01/21) at practice.  Exact change is appreciated if possible.  The amount due varies depending on the item that was pre-ordered- this individual amount was sent home with the dancers at practice yesterday.  If there are any questions about amounts, please contact the coaches. 

The pre-order form will be sent home with the dancers today (01/20) at practice.  This form will need to be returned by tomorrow (Thursday 01/21) so that we can provide Gar-Field with a final count.  Money for the shirts ($20 each) will be due to the coaches on Monday January 25th.

-There are 2 main entrances to Brooke Point- Please enter through the Gymnasium entrance (says BLACK-HAWK above entrance and is the door by the bus loop). Signs and balloons will be posted outside on the doors. (The gym entrance is further away from main parking lot). Spectators cannot enter by main office, which is our practice area.

-They will have concessions going all day.  They will also be selling a limited number of invitational shirts, good luck balloons, and shout outs.

We will be practicing on Tuesday 01/19 from 4:30-6:00 at Providence.

The dancers will be performing at both of the basketball games (5:45PM and 7:15PM) on Friday night.  We will meet as a team at 5:15PM.  After dancing at halftime of the first game, the dancers will head down to the cafeteria to have a team dinner and exchange their gifts (this should hopefully be around 6:15PM).  We will then remain as a team and walk down to the gym for the second game.  The dancers will need to remain with the team until after 3rd quarter of the second game. 

The dancers are participating in a gift exchange.  This will take place on Friday December 18th between our two basketball games (during our team dinner).  There is a $20 spending limit. 

Grade sheets are due to coaches on Thursday December 17th.

Pre-order forms for the Brooke Point competition shirt were sent home with the athletes on December 14th.  This is an optional purchase.  Shirts will also be sold the day of the competition; however, there will be limited quantities and sizes (ESPECIALLY crewneck and hoodie sweatshirts).  If you are looking to purchase a shirt, it is advised to complete the pre-order form.  Forms are due by Friday December 18th.  Money will not be due until a week prior to competition.  A reminder will be sent out at this time, to any athlete that submits the pre-order form.   

Apparel orders through CustomInk were sent home and returned to the coaches on Thursday 12/03.  Individual totals were sent home with the athletes at practice on December 14th.  Money for these orders is due Wednesday December 16th.  Cash or checks are acceptable forms of payment.  Checks should be made out to Falls Church High School. 

Brooke Point Dance Competition Medical Release Forms were handed out at practice yesterday (12/10).  These are due back to the coaches on Monday December 14th.  The competition date is Saturday January 23, 2016

Our first Basketball Game is tonight (December 11th) at 7:15 PM!  Dancers are expected to meet in the cafeteria at 6:15 PM for our team dinner.  They should come dressed (hair half up and half down, FCHS Jacket, White V-Neck T-Shirt, Black Jazz Pants/Yoga Pants/Leggings, Black Socks/Tights, Black Jazz Shoes, Light Make-Up) and ready to dance.  The dancers will perform and then be expected to remain with the team throughout the third quarter.  After the third quarter, they may join friends and/or family or leave at this time.  We hope to see you tonight!

Apparel order forms were handed out today at practice.  These will be due to the coaches on Thursday December 3rd.  All apparel is optional and the dancers are not expected to purchase any of these items.  Additional order forms are uploaded under the Team Files tab.  Money will be due next week when we have the chance to total the items and get exact prices.

UPDATE!!

Dance team pictures will now be on Tuesday December 8th at 4:30 at Providence.  Please ignore any announcements on the webpage, Booster Blast, etc. that say that the pictures are on Friday.  These announcements were posted previously and will not reflect the date change.  The dancers will then stay for our regular practice time, finishing up at 6:00.

Friday December 4th @ 4:30 in the Main Gym

Please come dressed and ready 5 minutes prior to our picture time.  The athletes will be allowed to leave right after our individual/team pictures.  Order forms were sent home with the athletes at practice today.  Additional order forms are in the Athletics Office. 

Athletes will be given a FCHS Dance Team Jacket tomorrow (Tuesday 12/01) for the pictures.  They will need to wear black pants, black jazz shoes/black socks/black shoes, and a white t-shirt.
