Jag's Comeback Falls Short

Going into the home half of the seventh inning, the Jags were down 10-5 to the visiting Thomas Jefferson Colonials. David Mathis led off the inning with a single up the middle. Paul Stewart reached on an error by the shortstop. When Nick Santos was hit by the pitch, the bases were loaded with no outs. Jack Gutermuth grounded out to third, and David scored. Michael Bruning hit a fly to right that the right fielder dropped for an error and two more runs scored, while  Michael advanced to second. Ryan Krepp struck out but was able to reach first base on a wild pitch. Another wild pitch put the runners on second and third with one out. Gary Borndholdt struck out and the game was in Senior Damian Yupari's hands. Two on, two outs, tying run at second, the stage was set....but the lights went off again. After a 20 minute delay, Devin Barnes went in to pitch run for Krepp. Damian then hit a single up the middle to score Bruning, but a good throw by the Colonial centerfielder caught Devin at the plate for the final out.

The Jags hit the ball well with 11 hits which included Paul Stewart's first home run of the season. Damian, Paul, Nick, and Jack all had 2 hits on the night. However, four errors and four walks were too much to overcome for the Jags this evening.
