Freshmen Handle Thomas Jefferson
Katie Ngo had 8 points, including 2 threes to help lift Falls Church (6-4) over Thomas Jefferson 22-15. The Jaguars were backed by a stellar 1-3-1 defense, which frustrated the Colonials all night, and held
TJ to 4 first half points.
“I thought [our defense] played out of our shoes tonight,” said Head Coach Sharon Frank. “I loved the way we hustled throughout the game.”
Claire Joseph also had 8 points for Falls Church, including 4-4 from the foul line, while Kimberly Roxbrough added 6 points.
“It’s great to see us gaining confidence as a team,” said Assistant Coach Daniel Frank. “When you’re able to shoot 60% from the line, and get into the double-bonus in the 3rd quarter, you’re usually in good shape.”
The Colonials were eventually able to close the deficit in the 4th quarter, aided by a 6-0 run, cutting the Jaguars’ lead to 8.
“I’m really pleased that when TJ made their run late in the game, we didn’t hit the panic button. Instead, we were able to call timeout and regroup, instead of completely unraveling,” said Daniel Frank.
The Jaguars’ are back in action at Mount Vernon on Saturday at 9:30AM.
