The longest current head-to-head winning streak for a Falls Church sports team continued tonight when the Lady Jaguars downed Stuart HS  for the 19th straight time spanning eight seasons, this one on the Lady Raiders home court. (Note: Falls Church has its own share of Conference demons with a seven-year losing streak against Wakefield, and if they ever beat Edison, it was in the 1900s!)  Tonight's win notched Falls Church's conference record at 2-2 and currently has them tied for the second most season victories for the school's girls basketball team this century with nine.

The game was close and hard fought. The Lady Jags took a one-point halftime lead and built it to nine in the third quarter and maintained it in an even-scored final frame. The team victory teemed with noteworthy individual performances. Senior Rasha Benhamida hit or cleared the ten-point scoring threshold for the 17th time in her career while sophomore Amari Faust did, likewise, for the 7th time within her first two years of varsity play. Junior Sierra Kennard enjoyed her 39th career game in double digits (impressively, only three times thus far this season has she missed this mark). The perennially prolific point producer had her first "double-double" of her career as she tallied 11 rebounds to aid her team's victory and keep her title of "Stuart's Nightmare." Senior Nyeisha Thompson fell just one point short of a "double-double" with her best scoring night of her career. Her 11 boards crossed her past 100 rebounds so far this season. The forward was the only successful free throw shooter tonight with five shots made at the penalty stripe -- the rest of the team left points on the floor by netting only one foul shot in eleven attempts.

The Lady Jags begin their battle for third place in the Conference with a series of crucial games beginning next week.
