Score
JAGUARS: 50
POTOMAC FALLS: 40

The Lady Jaguars completed a fruitful trip into Loudoun County by defeating the Lady Panthers at Potomac Falls High School, the second win against this opponent in consecutive years. This contest was a tight affair until the final minutes of the game. What proved to be the difference was the return of of a two-year starter to the Lady Jaguars; her welcome contribution tonight resulted in Falls Church's first winning streak of the season.

Potomac Falls opened the contest flowing swift and strong as they rushed to an early lead, but by the second quarter the Lady Jags zone defense began to solidify while their offense remained consistent enough for them to take a one-point lead into the locker room at intermission. The third quarter remained a give-and-take affair with Falls Church outpacing the Panthers by another three points to give them more breathing room as they entered the final frame. Here, the Lady Jags proved to be the Big Cat on the floor, expanding their lead and winning the game by double digits.

Falls Church outrebounded Potomac Falls tonight, coming away with more than 40 defensive boards. The offense was solid with significant contributions by both the front and back court. Juniors Nyesha Thompson and Kim Roxborough each scored baskets for the second consecutive games at the post, while freshman Amari Faust has now also scored in each of her four games of her early varsity career. Sophomore Sierra Kennard hit her third consecutive game in double digits and has now scored in all of her 29 career games. Leah Shaw and Rasha Benhamida continued their consistent representation of the junior class by contributing 40% of the team's offense with Shaw leading the team in both assists and rebounds tonight.

The most welcome contribution for the Lady Jags this evening was the return of Mia Pendleton to the line up. Missing the first three games of the season due to a mid-November injury, the veteran junior's presence and performance proved to be the difference tonight. Not only did she pull in eight rebounds and passed off two assists, she was surprisingly potent on offense, shaking off any signs of rust with her career-high games in points.

The sudden improvement in her team's health could not have come at a better time for Coach Pritchett. Now with her team's record even at 2-2, the Lady Jags enter a new week where they test their strength against their first two Conference 13 opponents of the season.

Scoring Summary: Sierra Kennard, 12 points; Leah Shaw, 11 points; Mia Pendleton, 10 points; Rasha Benhamida, 9 points; Nyeisha Thompson, 4 points; Amari Faust, 2 points; Kim Roxborough, 2 points.
