The Lady Patriots ended the Lady Jags winning streak at one with a 30-point victory at Yorktown HS. Falls Church was only able to compete for a half before a combination of fatigue, foul trouble, and inexperience took their toll on the court.
The game opened very promising for the Lady Jags who battled blow by blow with Yorktown throughout the first quarter. Leann Loch and Amber Ecelbarger combined evenly for eight points and Amy Rock landed a basket to put Falls Church up by two points at the buzzer. The Lady Jags continued to impress in the second quarter with five different scorers but fell behind in the closing minute of the half to go to the locker room on the trailing end of a 23-21 score.
The second half belonged to the Lady Patriots from start to end, enjoying a 36-8 run. They converted numerous Lady Jag turnovers into baskets and continuously cycled in fresh scorers and strong defenders. For Falls Church, junior Sarah Halverson lit the scoreboard for the first time as a varsity player toward the end of the game.
Scoring Summary: Amber Ecelbarger, 9 points; Leann Loch, 8 points; Leah Shaw, 4 points; Natalie Samaha, 3 points; Amy Rock, 2 points; Sarah Halverson, 1 point.
