Friday night at West Springfield the Jaguars had their first scrimmage of the season. Defense held strong in the first half with sweep Bethany Boveri helping the defensive communication among backs, Erin Stansel, Rachel Senyitko, and center back Michelle Enquist. Starting senior goalie Michelle Hannon had several excellent saves and unleashed a powerful voice to guide her defenders through an intense first half. In the second half captain Ana Moschopoulas helped steer the team into an organized formation which led to a decrease in corners. Newcomer freshman Kayliegh Boveri showed stealth speed at her first varsity game. Finally, goalie Kiara Odom had a shut out second half which included a split save which prevented a possible goal. Falls Church ended strong sporting a noticeably improved, comfortable feel as their first game was played on turf. The season looks strong with many skilled seniors and powerful teammates.
