Christina Kwon
Head Swim Coach
Girls Varsity Swim & Dive
Coach Christina Kwon joined the Falls Church High School coaching staff during the 2005-2006 season as an assistant swim coach. This will be her fourth year as the Head Swim Coach. As a central Virginia native, Coach Kwon began her swimming career at the age of eight (Chesterfield Swim Association, Virginia Association for Competitive Swimming and Hopewell Aquatic Team). She qualified for and competed in several Junior Olympics Championships in the breaststroke, the YMCA National Championships in the 200 fly, and was a bronze medalist at the 1999 Korean American Olympic Festival in the 200 breaststroke and 400 IM. During high school, since her school did not sponsor a swim team, Coach Kwon competed as a varsity runner for the cross-country, indoor track, and outdoor track teams at Clover Hill High School. She later attended the University of Chicago, where she was a varsity swimmer and former record holder. Coach Kwon received a Bachelors degree in History. Currently, Coach Kwon is in her sixth season as an Age Group Coach (and third as lead site coach at Mount Vernon Rec Center) with the Curl Burke Swim Club and finished her third season as Head Coach for Mount Vernon Country Club (DCCL). Coach Kwon has been coaching since 1998, starting with two local summer league teams, and continuing with the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools Learn to Swim program. She also previously coached at Hollin Meadows (NVSL) and Mount Vernon Park (NVSL). On the rare occasions that she is not on the pool deck, Coach Kwon serves as a Program Officer for the Academy for Educational Developments Head Start National Center of Excellence for Program Design and Fiscal Management.
